When I was 9 years old, I got my first camera. I remember it well, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles camera that imprinted a little turtle at the bottom right corner of every photo. The first thing I started doing was taking pictures of my dogs and cats. Sometimes I even succeeded, around large blots shaped like my fingers.
Today, my photography is a little different, even aside from the fact that I hardly ever photograph my fingers. I've been intrigued with animals and the natural world we live in for as long as I can remember. I started working with animals in high school as a youth volunteer at the Indianapolis Zoo, working with the seals and sea lions. It certainly wasn't long before my camera became my regular companion.
A few years ago I got started in the field of portrait photography. Friends of mine asked me to take their portraits, since they couldn't find a photographer willing to work with animals. I thought, why not? So here I am. Older, wiser, and certainly busier, with photos that (usually) don't include any hint of a finger. Oh, and in case you're curious, the turtles in the corner are gone, too.
